ISO 9001 : 2015
The world’s most widely used management standard
Quality Management System
ISO 9001 is a framework of policies and processes intended to ensure that an organisation’s products and services consistently meet customer expectations. It is the standard that buyers, tender committees and marketplaces recognise without needing it explained.
What the 2015 revision changed
- Far greater emphasis on genuine commitment from top management, not just a signed policy.
- Systematic assessment of risks and opportunities, considered in advance rather than after failure.
- Common high-level language shared across ISO management standards, so several can be run as one system.
- A more practical, less paperwork-driven approach to demonstrating quality management.
Who it applies to
ISO 9001:2015 is a universal standard. It applies to every type of organisation — manufacturing or service, proprietorship, partnership, private company, public company or government undertaking — regardless of size or structure. There is no minimum headcount and no sector restriction.
What certification delivers
- Enhanced safety, efficiency and repeatability across production, development and service delivery.
- Defined targets that make continual improvement measurable rather than aspirational.
- Step-by-step visibility of progress against the requirements of the standard.
- Higher productivity from improved processes and better-qualified staff.
- Fairer access to international trade, where certification is often an entry condition.
- Credible assurance to consumers that products and services are safe and consistent.
- A recognised platform for adopting new technology and transferring technical knowledge.
